At the end of 2023, associations had the opportunity to participate in Liiveri's sparring, where new ways to get young people involved in activities were devised. We committed to implement one project with each of the four participating associations.<\/p>\n
Since the sparring sessions went extremely well and ideas were born, we want to share them with all of you as well. So grab some tips on how to get young people involved!<\/p>\n

Young people's own areas of responsibility: Give young people the opportunity to take responsibility and implement their own projects or areas of the association's activities. This gives young people a sense of meaningful participation and encourages them to commit to the association's activities in the longer term. Ask the young people directly what kind of activity they want to participate in. Young people can best answer that themselves. Carry out the survey traditionally or even electronically, using Forms, Google Forms or Mentimeter. You can raffle a prize among all respondents, e.g. Gift cards always work!<\/p>\n

If you can get the attention of young people, you are already a long way. Use channels in communication that reach young people effectively. Ask the young people on which channels they would like information about the association's activities. Take advantage of social media, create an attractive website and use visual content such as images and videos. Young people are often interested in fast and visual communication, so keep the communication dynamic and easy to digest. Also inspire young people to participate in communication and give them a free hand to do things.<\/p>\n

Collaboration: Do you have a great idea, but not enough people to make it happen? Local youth activities, clubs or associations can plan things for young people at the same time, and collaboration often results in the best implementations. For example, invite different associations to hold workshops on your spring day - this way the participants can get to know other activities as well. Also involve the young people in planning!<\/p>\n

Relaxed atmosphere: Trust that young people will enjoy participating in a relaxed environment. Organize events and meetings with a low threshold to join. Communicate about opportunities openly and actively and encourage young people to participate. Avoid excessive bureaucracy and encourage open interaction. The atmosphere of the association should be inviting and friendly.<\/p>\n

Various funding opportunities and internationality: Choose with the young people the themes and projects of the activity, which are related to the areas of interest of the young people and the challenges of the future. For example, Youth Leader or Erasmus+ funding can provide a suitable incentive to plan a joint project with young people. The task of adults is to support and encourage \u2013 and to give wings to young people's ideas!<\/p>\n
