Home production, i.e. farming for one's own needs and raising various useful animals, is a growing phenomenon. What motivates people to grow their own food? Why do chickens cluck in the backyard in the summer? What kind of obstacles or conditions does urban development create for home-grown food?
Answers to all these questions and a few more are being sought in a study starting at the Seinäjoki University Centre. The aim is to find out, among other things, how widespread the phenomenon really is, what currently motivates people to produce their own products, and what kinds of problems they may have encountered.
The research work has begun with an online survey, where you can find additional information. from this link. The survey is open until May 21, 2017.
