The goal of South Ostrobothnia's Leader groups is to make fiber optic available to as many companies and residents in South Ostrobothnia as possible. At the end of 2019, 401 TP3T of the region's households were covered by fixed broadband (speed 100 Mbit/s) in South Ostrobothnia, while the figure for all of Finland was 641 TP3T.
- Households and companies need a fast, high-quality and reliable data connection when the number of electronic services online increases. In addition, in terms of multi-location housing and the attractiveness of the area, it is important that the situation of the optical fiber network in South Ostrobothnia also be improved, says the project's employee, information network expert Mikko Ojainväli.
Ojainväli started his work in May in the area of Leader Liiver, Leader Suupohja and Isokyrö. He has extensive knowledge and more than 33 years of work experience in data networks, as well as strong regional knowledge. Ojainväli encourages everyone interested in the fiber optic network to feel free to contact them.
- For example, information events related to the fiber optic network are coming up. Now is a great opportunity to get advice and support for project planning and implementation.
The scope of the Vauhtia valokikuuun project is the whole of Southern Ostrobothnia and especially those areas where the coverage of the fiber optic network is poor. The goal is to increase residents' and businesses' awareness of the benefits of the fiber optic network and the opportunities it brings.
- The purpose is also to map the areas that have the conditions for the construction of a fiber optic network and to help the creation of projects for the construction of fiber optic networks and to find suitable financing for them, Ojainväli sums up.
