General presentation
The Suomen Siirtolaisuusmuseo Tukiyhdistys ry owns the Hakala house on the shore of Kalajärvi, which was built by Matti Hakala, an air riverman, for his family on American roads in 1910. The building was moved to the shore of Kalajärvi for Maailman Raiti, which presents emigration. The log house with a cabin and two chambers, partly decorated with American objects and furniture, is suitable for holding small meetings and small-scale parties. The hut's fireplace and baking oven are in use. Hakala's house is located near the Kalajärvi Tourist Area.
In the same courtyard area as Hakala's house, there is also Unkur's house, which has electricity and a fireplace, but no toilet. Unkur's house is suitable for short gatherings for about 15-20 people, for example a small concert has been held there, for which it was very well suited.
