Kitinoja

The active village of Kitinoja and popular with young families is located in the Kyrönjoki valley, 16 kilometers from Seinäjoki. With its river banks and fields, it is part of the national landscape of southern Poznan, which has been rated nationally as valuable. The village has more than 400 inhabitants. The parts of the village are Kitinoja, Hirvilamimi and Viitikko. In the past, the Kitinos were known for their strong livestock. Nowadays, most of the villagers go to work elsewhere, but the grain still waves in the fields of the village. Suomen Kylätoiminta ry chose Kitinoja as Village of the Year 2012 from among the candidates nominated by the provinces. The year before that, Kitinoja was chosen as the South Pohja Village of the Year 2011.

The village operates e.g. machine repair shop, excavation maintenance, drainage contracting, excavator contracting, construction business, HVAC installation and hairdressing business.


Shared spaces and hobby opportunities

The village hall, built with the power of talk, serves as a center for hobby activities, a school building over 100 years old, a church built by the villagers with the help of talk, a gym, ice hockey rink, nesting and soccer field, Hietasaari beach. The village has facilities for organizing weddings, funerals and other family celebrations. Tableware is rented for home parties. The village has its own mascot Kiti-Kettu, which can be rented for children's parties.

The strengths of the village

A peaceful and safe rural village, with an excellent location. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Seinäjoki, Nurmo and Lapua. The center of Ilmajoki and Kauhava is about 30 km from Kitinoja. Our own church and village hall are also strengths. Talkoos, or köks, have always been a part of village life. Those who wish can participate in the talks according to their time and energy.
