The settlement of Kylänpää is located about 5 kilometers from Kirkonkylä in the direction of Lapua. The village is crossed by the Kyrönjoki river, which, being especially wide right at Kylänpää, creates its own characteristic feature in the village's landscape. Kylänpäänkoski flows under the Kylänpää bridge, which thanks to "Lex Kyrönjoki" will continue to flow unharnessed. There are about 900 inhabitants.
The "official" name of the village is Topparla, according to which the village's school is also named. Kylänpää proper also includes smaller villages such as Viitala, Kuivila and Liutulajoki south of the river and Hiipakkala and Liipantönkkä north of the river. Pouttula is located between Kylänpää and kirkonkylä.
The village school has three teachers, and there are about 60 students. The renovation of the school was completed in 2012, which guarantees its existence for several years to come. Pupils are brought to the school from, among others, Hanhikoski.
The population of the village is traditionally concentrated along the river and roads. In addition to the main agricultural buildings and detached houses, there are ten townhouses in the vicinity of the school, where you can find affordable apartments for families of all sizes. You can get information about vacant lots for sale in the area, for example, via the city's website.
Highway 16 (Vaasa-Jyväskylä) or Lapuantie, which is part of the Blue Road from Norway to Russia, leads to the village. Next to the main road runs a bike path, especially used by cyclists and skateboarders. On the other side of the river runs Ookilantie, which was paved a few years ago. The village has a municipal water supply and sewer network.
The Seinäjoki community college districts, the library car and various associations are responsible for other education in the village. In 2005, Kyrönmaa School's history district published a history book Varrella virta from Kylänpää, which creditably describes the village's past. The village's own associations are Ylipää Youth Association, Ylipää Agricultural and Household Women and Ylipää Maamiesseura. Among the parish's committees, the diaconate circle and SLEY's local association are active.
Old Ylistaro's largest employer, Luoman Oy, which specializes in log construction, operates mainly in Kylänpää, where it also has its head office. More than 90 % of the company's production is exported, the group employs about 70 people. The village also has companies related to the production of pellets, frames, printed products and protective covers, as well as companies related to construction, sales and marketing. However, many of the village's food groups still derive their main livelihood from agriculture.
On the border of Kylänpää, Pouttula operates Finland's first animal nursing home, managed by Wanhalla Marki. The Laaksonen artist couple sells paintings as well as decorative objects. The area is a popular destination for many families in the summer and at Christmas time. The youth club, founded at the beginning of the last century, has dances in the winter, holds youth clubs and organizes family parties. Kyrönjoki also provides many opportunities for spending free time. The school's large yard, on the other hand, gives young people the opportunity to enjoy skating as well as baseball.
