The common agricultural policy will bring the EU closer to you in the future as well. How should measures for rural development and agriculture be prioritized in the next EU funding period, and how should funds be directed? What does a regenerating and diverse countryside need?
The preparation for the EU financial season continues at both the EU and national level. Preparation has also started in the areas of ELY centers and Leader groups. To ground regional and local planning work, we are organizing a national Smart Countryside webinar on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, from 9 am to 12 pm.
The aim of the webinar is to go over the state of preparation of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). In Finland, a national strategic plan (CAP plan) is made, which also covers rural development. The event will provide an overview of the state of the strategic plan and the guidelines for rural development in the upcoming financial period. In addition, we will hear what the vision and goals of rural policy and archipelago policy are for rural areas in the future. This information also helps in the preparation of regional rural development plans and local development strategies.
The Smart Rural Areas webinar is part of the wider Smart Rural Areas tour, which brings rural and agricultural developers together both virtually and face-to-face. During the spring, a few virtual workshops will be organized and in the fall, if the situation allows, also face-to-face events in ELY central areas.
