The Open Villages day will be held online this year on June 12. The villages publish different content on their own channels, and all the participating villages can be found on the national openkylat.fi website. A map with links to the villages will be published on the day of the event at 6:00 a.m. The map tells what the village publishes and on which online platform. On Social media, event publications can be found with the tags #AvoimetKylät #TeeSeKylilli and #MaalleAsumaa.
The villages that registered for the event are enthusiastic about making videos and photo galleries, among other things. The social media publications of the villages of the Liiver region tell about living in the countryside, introduce the villages' natural attractions and history. In the publications of the villages, you can also get to know the stages of log carving or the making of a hull ship. Avoimet Portit live event is organized in Seinäjoki District.
The themes of Open Villages this year are emigration and local tourism in particular. The goal is to bring the village's interesting local tourist attractions into the limelight and bring new places to visit to the attention of tourists. The biggest goal of the day is strengthening digital skills and making use of the common visibility of the villages in the middle of the local tourism boom.
For the first time, municipalities were also included in the event. Municipalities can market, for example, attractiveness factors of villages and residential areas to potential emigrants.
