We live surrounded by cultural environments. Different layers of time and phenomena can be observed when you stop and read the landscape and the built environment. Deeper than the surface, there also live personal and shared memories, values given over time. So welcome to discuss and share memories at Seurala in Seinäjoki District on Wednesday, May 14th, starting at 5:30 PM.
The South Ostrobothnia Regional Plan 2050 came into force at the end of last year. As part of the planning work, a study was completed of the regionally valuable sites in the built cultural environment of South Ostrobothnia. The sites were selected based on historical, scenic and architectural values.
The perspectives used in selecting the built cultural environment included in the regional plan are one way of valuing, but there are other ways that are equally important. Valuation is a process that requires dialogue. This is what we aim to enable at the Seurala event.
At the beginning, Annukka Kuoppala, the regional architect of the South Ostrobothnia Regional Council, talks about the regional plan study and briefly introduces selected gems of the region. The commentary following the presentation focuses on the meanings of the Piir area. Susanna Tyrväinen, the museum director of Seinäjoki Museums, considers different approaches to valuation and asks how they can be brought up in planning. Johannes Karhu and Kaisu Rintala, who are active in the district, bring the perspectives of entrepreneurs and traditionalists to the topic. At the event, we will also hear Tuija Ahola's descriptive interpretations of the built environment.
The event is organized under the Lakeuden perintö brand. It is part of the European Cultural Environment Days program, which this year's theme is Our Built Heritage. Liiveri is involved in Lakeuden perintö activities
Admission to the event is free. Coffee will be served starting at 5:30 PM for the first 30 people. The actual program will start at 6 PM.
