Would you like to learn practical skills that will help you extend the life of your clothes, save money, and reduce textile waste? Every piece of clothing repaired is a small climate action – and at the same time a step towards a more sustainable everyday life.
Welcome to the workshop to learn Sashiko embroidery, a Japanese decorative patching technique that combines practicality and aesthetics. Simple stitches can be used to strengthen, mend and beautify damaged clothing – while creating a unique story for the garment.
In the workshop you can also learn about other repair methods and tools, such as using a darning sponge and clothing patches. Come along to learn, be inspired and make more responsible choices one garment at a time. The workshop will be held at Vaatelainaamo Tantu in connection with the Piirin Kekri event on Saturday 27 September 2025 from 12–18. Bring a garment that needs repair from home or practice with the materials provided in the workshop. Participation is free of charge. You can come according to your own schedule, no registration or previous experience is required.
The workshop is organized by the Liiverin Eco-Works Together project and the GENGREEN project in collaboration with Taito EP and Vaatelainaamo Tantu.
