This year, summer arrived in one fell swoop, and just as quickly came the day when it was time to step into a new summer job for the first time.
My name is Emilia Aho and I started my summer job at Liiver in mid-May. I have studied the media field for four years, and that is why I am very excited that my job duties are broadly related to media and information. Already during the first weeks, I have been able to photograph, edit, interview people and visit completely new places in the Seinäjoki region. So the days have been very different and that's just a good thing for me.
I originally came from Jalasjärvi, but four years ago I moved to Kauhajoki, where I studied to become a media service provider. Last fall, I packed my things to head to Turku, where I am currently studying journalism at the Art Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences. So I can say from the bottom of my heart that media feels like the right field for me.
I excitedly returned to South Pohanmaa for the summer, and to be honest, the thought of staying in the city didn't even cross my mind. As a person who loves nature, I find the countryside to be an important and inspiring environment for me. In South Ostrobothnia, I am also fascinated by a certain sense of lack of urgency and the sense of community that prevails here.
Over the past summers, I have worked in cafes, a grocery store, and a greenhouse. Although all of the above have been very educational and also fulfilling jobs, I am happy that I get to work in Liiveri this summer. I'm already looking forward to what the summer that just started will bring.
