The autumn meeting of the Southern Ostrobothnia Villages Association was held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Lappajärvi Itäkylä, where the South Ostrobothnia Village of the Year 2015 award was presented to Yliluoma from Ylihärmä in Kauhava.
Eija Mäntymäki from Jalsjärvi was re-elected as a member of the board from the Liiveri region, on the basis of her resignation. Sirkka Pakkala from Jalasjärvi and Hannele Salmela-Hast from Seinäjoki will continue as deputy members. In addition to Mäntymäki, Tauno Alkula from Soini, Johanna Ikola from Lapua, Heikki Korkealaakso from Kauhava, Tarja Mäkiniemi from Lappajärvi and Päivi Niemistö from Kortesjärvi will continue as full members. Anne Senerin from Kuortane will start as a new member of the board.
It was decided to keep the membership fees unchanged: 30 euros for villages with fewer than a hundred inhabitants and 40 euros for large villages. The supporter membership fee is 100 euros, and the municipal membership fee is tiered according to the number of inhabitants, from 90 to 200 euros.
The reduction in the government subsidy for provincial village associations to almost a third of what it used to be, i.e. only around 12,000 euros, will bring changes to the association's operations.
