In Liveri, internationality is seen as a force that activates young people and the region. The international SaYouth project with its study tours has offered several internationalization opportunities for the region's young people and those working with young people this year.
- Liiveri is involved in the international SaYouth project, which promotes young people's participation in decision-making and opportunities to influence. The project's goals include, among other things, increasing the dialogue between young people and the authorities from the local level to the European level, Noora Riippi Tells about the livery.
The project's goals are reached with the help of international meetings and study tours. Young people and people working with young people are included in these trips. The first local seminar was organized in Italy in April and the second in June in Poland. Liiveri sends two participants to the study trips, who are either young people or people who work with young people.
- Getting to know local groups of young people, such as youth councils, has been an important part of the study tour program.
Liiver's own local SaYouth seminar was organized in Seinäjoki and Ilmajoki on August 31-September 2, 2022. During the study trip, we got to know the municipalities' youth services, youth council activities and Liiver's Youth Division.
- The participants of the study tour were particularly impressed by how much young people and youth workers are valued in Finland. There are a lot of different opportunities for young people, and they are needed to participate in decisions about associations, for example.
- The resource center Toiska was the highlight of the study trip for many. The participants were impressed by the way Toiska works with young people in a humane way, says Riippi.
The SaYouth project involves actors from seven European countries: Italy, Greece, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Finland and Sweden. The project is managed by the Swedish municipality of Ale.
The project develops dialogue and its channels and operating methods, increases knowledge of democratic systems at the local and European level, and promotes active participation in civil society and voluntary work.
