The Liiveri government has awarded the 2026 Youth Leader diploma to Wohvelikahvila entrepreneurs Helmi Viirimäki and Fiia for Joy. The diploma is being awarded for the first time. The diploma is awarded in recognition of courage, creativity and an exemplary attitude towards doing things. The initiative, positivity and creativity of the young entrepreneurs also serve as an excellent example for other young people in the region.
– This is a big surprise and great news. It's really great that such a diploma exists and that we get to be the first to receive it, Viirimäki and Iloviita say enthusiastically.
Viirimäki and Iloviita have founded and successfully run their Wohvelikahvila business in Ylistaro since summer 2024 during their summer holidays. Wohvelikahvila has enlivened the local community and brought people together, acting as a meeting place for customers.
– We have received feedback from customers that it is nice that there are more things to do and places to visit in Ylistaro in the summer. The Wohvel café has familiar regular customers whose orders we already remember.
The Youth Leader support made it easier for young people to start their own business and gave them the confidence to do so. The entrepreneurs used the support to purchase, among other things, interior design and baking supplies, waffle irons and cleaning equipment.
– When we found out about the support, we felt relieved and happy. It's great that young people are supported with this kind of funding. It really makes a lot possible.
Wohvelikafvila is already looking forward to its third summer this year, when it will open its doors again from July 8th to 26th, 2026.
