The Open Villages day will be held next Saturday, June 10. Avoimet Kylät is Finland's largest public event, as there are nearly 600 events nationwide. On the day of the event, you can take a short trip to the villages and participate in various events.
The program in the Liiveri area (Ilmajoki, Jalasjärvi, Seinäjoki) includes both traditional tailgate flea markets, family events and summer kiosks, as well as local specialties such as SaunaOpen and circus workshops. There are a total of 12 events in the Liiver area.
- It's great how many villages have started organizing events! In many villages, the Avoimet kylät event serves as the opening of the summer, when you can exchange news with other villagers during the summer holidays, says Anne Palohuhta from Liiver.
All the events participating in the day can be found on the renewed Open Villages website. An event map has also been published on the website, where you can get to know all the events and villages included in the day.
The Open Villages Day is being organized nationwide for the ninth time already. The goal of the day is to increase village tourism and at the same time bring the diverse activities of the villages into the limelight. At various events, villages are introduced to tourists, villagers are met and new residents are courted at the same time.
- The day offers a great opportunity to visit different villages. Thanks to the versatile program, there is sure to be something meaningful for everyone, Palohuhta encourages.
The event is organized in cooperation with Suomen Kylät ry, provincial village associations, Leader groups, local associations and activists. Leader Liiver's Kylille III project is involved in the event, helping with information and marketing.
