Last March, Jalasjärvi Kehitysvammainten Tuki ry received the expected shipment. The electric tricycle was a valuable purchase, but very necessary and will benefit many. The association had prepared for a several-year project, but Liiver's funding made the acquisition possible in a faster schedule. Ella and Kristiina Riskumäki have already been able to enjoy bicycle trips on an electric tricycle.

Half of the bike was paid for as support, but in addition to that, money has been collected for example at a fashion show. Enthusiasm and kökä spirit were enough, because a bike has been needed in the community for a long time. Until now, a similar bike has been rented from Tampere and the transports have had to be handled back and forth by yourself.
-The bike is intended primarily for people with developmental disabilities and people with special mobility. The hope is that as many people as possible can enjoy cycling. Many who have tried the bike have already asked about a new reservation, says Riskumäki.
The bike is sturdy, but the steering requires a bit of learning.
- When you get up to speed, the bike goes fast, Riskumäki smiles.
Kristiina Riskumäki's daughter, 18-year-old Ella, has also enjoyed bicycle trips most often with her father.
- The longest trip has been to Koskue and the trip was 25 km one way. Thanks to the bike, many people's territories are expanded, says Riskumäki.
In the future plans are also to purchase accessories. At least driving gloves, a special handlebar and pedal trays and leg supports are on the shopping list.
-This would enable the use of the bike also for people who find it difficult to either grip with their hands or pedal with these pedals.
The bike has been available to reserve since July. The operation is run by volunteers, and for this reason, bikes are borrowed for a week at a time, not for a shorter period. The bike is booked through Jalasjärvi Kehitysvammainen Tuki ry. If the booking calendar allows it, non-special mobility users can also inquire about the bike.
