Ahonkylä

Ahonkylä is a close-to-nature, vibrant residential area of approx. 2,000 inhabitants on the border of Ilmajoki and Seinäjoki. You can drive to the village in about ten minutes from the centers of Seinäjoki and Ilmajoki. The terrain of the village, located on the edge of Alajoki's flatland landscape, is varied: there are ponds, marshes, fields, rocks and forests. The wonderful environment, nature and sports opportunities create a great setting for enjoying yourself in the village. There is a constant supply of plots and the loose zoning gives builders a great framework to settle in our village.

Services

There are 2 schools in the village. The renovated Ahonkylä school and the Tuomi-Aho school completed in 2022. Three kindergartens; Vanamo, Metsätähti and Käpälämäki daycare serve the needs of families with children in up-to-date facilities. A Minismart 24/7 self-service store, a Kebab pizzeria, a barbershop and other wellness companies operate in the business center Ilmajoki Porti. Business activities in the village can also be found in agriculture and forestry, transport, metal, electronics, IT, construction and textiles. The library car runs regularly. There are five playgrounds in different parts of the village. The village also has a new parish home and youth facilities at the new Tuomi-Aho school.

Shared spaces and hobby opportunities

The village has excellent outdoor opportunities for those who like to exercise in nature. Illuminated barrier-free adventure trail from Ahonkylä to Seinäjoki, along which there is a hut and shed maintained by the Ahonkylä society. The full-scale Teron kierros Frisbee golf course is in heavy use. There is also Ankkalammi's swimming area, sports fields and tennis courts, etc. The village association is also involved in the maintenance of the sports facilities. The Ahonkylä school has activities in the evenings: gymnastics, volleyball, sähli and other sports, club activities and civic college courses. Clubs and Sunday school are held in the parish hall, and there are constant activities in the youth facilities.

Special features

The village association operating in Ahonkylä was founded in 1974 and has been the supporting force of the village for almost 50 years. The aim of the society is to promote and develop the cooperation of the village residents and the village's operating conditions. The village club also aims to organize various hobby opportunities and support sports opportunities for people of different ages. Active cooperation with various parties, e.g. the municipality, other Ilmajoki villages, youth activities, diaconia district. We are trying to develop the village and its functions. We make presentations and give statements related to matters concerning the village and participate in various projects. We invest in young people, get them involved in community activities and take responsibility. Ahonkylä has many successful people in different sports, both in sports and in other activities.
