The idyllic village with an interesting name is located 15 kilometers from the center of Seinäjoki. The village has about 150 inhabitants and 50 houses. Living is spacious and the children have a safe growing environment. The residents of the village have businesses ranging from welfare services to rural entrepreneurship and everything in between. The "serpentine road" running through the middle of the settlement is paved and is now a scenic route popular with cyclists.
Route transport operates as open public transport in the village, serving especially school transport. Seinäjoki city service transport (Pali) services are ordered separately. Ämmälä's village association rents out its own food and coffee equipment, there is also a soup kitchen available for rent. You can enjoy winter sports and nature in e.g. on tracks made by the villagers.
The village has plenty of walking and cycling routes in varied terrain. In connection with the annual meetings of the Ämmälä village club, for example, sports days are often organized at the barbecue house. Every year, we also try to organize a joint summer trip of the village and different themed evenings. An almost 100-year-old traditional porridge party for the villagers is organized around Christmas.
Ämmälänkylä is a good and relaxed place to live. Jogging paths and the peace of nature are the village's strengths in maintaining well-being. The village is fairly far from the city center, but only about a quarter of an hour's drive from the services. Although living in the village is casual, the residents are familiar with each other. Community spirit and caring for others is natural. From the village, people commute to work and school, and they operate as entrepreneurs, employing and serving the whole of Finland. With the paved road, construction has increased and living comfort has improved. You can inquire about the plot offer from the village association.
The name of the village originates from the time of Isonviha in the early 18th century, when children and women were brought to escape the war and find safety in the far hinterlands. The actual settlement came to Ämmälänkylä only around the 1830s.
Pajuluoma winds through the village, which was gutted and renovated between 2013 and 2015. The starting point for the restoration of pajuluoma was the drainage of agricultural fields, but the restoration of luoma also significantly serves other land use and housing.
The village is about 65 meters higher than the city center, i.e. at the same height as the Lakeuden Cross tower.
The village has always had the skill of making homemade cheese, and cheese has been exported all the way from the Presidential Palace to the Swedish court and the embassy in Cairo.
