Hanhikoski village is a vibrant rural village in Ylistaro, along the Kyrönjoki. The versatile nature offers good opportunities for hobbies. The centers of Ylistaro and Lapua are located a quarter of an hour's drive away, and Seinäjoki can be reached in half an hour. The residents of Hanhikoski are actively involved in the development of their village, and various joint events are organized every year.
There is a group family daycare center in Hanhikoski. In addition, the shop and library van stop in the village every week. The civic school's gym and weaving circle operate in the premises of the village hall. Our own water supply company, Koivulakson Vesi Oy, is responsible for water supply.
The village association owns and maintains the village hall, which has a barbecue shed, an ice skating rink and a hut in the yard. Small parties of approx. 50–60 people can be organized in the cottage of the village hall. Along Vatajantie is the Hanhikoski boat ramp with a campfire site, pier and rowing boat for shared use. On the other side of the river, from the group's yard, there is a chewing track that is in use all year round.
There is a shed with campfire places along the cutting line. In winter, when the snow situation permits, a track is drawn to the piru track, and it is also possible to go on a longer Lepokallio run. The plans also include the creation of a guided trail network in the beautiful scenery of Hanhikoski.
There is a locked warehouse at the baseball field where villagers can borrow baseball and other game equipment. In the summer of 2017, a throwing ring was built on the side of the baseball field, which is suitable for practicing moukari and other throwing sports all year round. The Laurikoski swimming pool offers a safe, sand-bottomed swimming spot for aquatic animals of all ages. In the recreation area of Malkakoski, it is possible to fish, swim, relax on the porch or play volleyball. There is also a bird tower in Malkakoski.
There is an active village club in the village, Hanhikosken kyläseura ry. Agricultural and household women have their own local section, Hanhikoski agricultural and household women's association. The local branch of the revivalist association Koski. In addition, the Ylistaro hunting club has its own division in Hanhikoski.
The village organizes an annual Easter bonfire event and a porridge party. In addition, joint meals and other adventures are organized throughout the year. The Children's Agricultural Exhibition has grown into a very popular event and joint effort, which has been organized several times since the beginning of June. The exhibition has attracted several hundred participants.
New homes have been built in Hanhikoski at the rate of two houses per year this decade. The city of Seinäjoki offers free plots in the Koski residential area. In addition, individual plots are available on the free market, for which you can get more information from the village association. Individual house sites also come up for sale from time to time.
We warmly welcome all new residents to Hanhikoski. There are no street lights, but it's easy to walk in the dark!
