The church village of Nurmo is located ten kilometers from the center of Seinäjoki. Although the center of Nurmo has been overshadowed by the rapidly growing Hyllykallio business center, Nurmo's church village is a vibrant and comfortable place to live and live. Kirkonkylä operates a school center with a thousand students and high schools, Nurmo hall, Nurmo house, parish hall and fire station. Two kilometers from the city center is the Nurmoo-Seura local museum. It is an over 200-year-old peasant house with sheds, barns, milking parlors and workshops. The museum specializes in presenting the foundry industry, Körtti culture, wrestling champions and the Battle of Äyräpää on March 5, 1940. Kuusenlahti retirement home and Onnela small group home are also located in the area.
Nurmo kirkonmäki near the banks of Nurmonjoki is located slightly to the side when viewed from the station village, which was created under the influence of the Oulu railway built in the 1870s. The distance to the center is a couple of kilometers. The church, completed in 1779, has 650 seats.
In the center of Nurmo there is a library, a health service center, a youth center and a pharmacy. In the center there is also a business center with a grocery store, an R-kiosk, a flower shop and a car repair shop. The Nurmo house has a city service point. It is possible to organize meetings and events in the premises of the Nurmo house.
The Nurmo hall has a gym, badminton court, running track, hitting ranges, shooting range, wrestling hall, cafeteria and meeting rooms, as well as grandstands for about 1,000 people. Many events are organized in the hall and it serves as the focal point of the annual Lakeus marathon.

There are three large residential areas around the center: the residential areas of Tepo, Louo and Koliiini. At the moment, construction is mainly concentrated in the direction of Kertunlaakso, but new residential areas are also coming near the center of Nurmo, in the Latika area and in Mäenkylä.
From Nurmo's church village, you can directly reach Paukaneva, which is a 600-hectare oasis swamp. The length of the nature trail in Suo is seven kilometers, of which 5.5 kilometers are longwood trails. Along the guided route you can find, among other things, a bird tower, a shed and a campfire site. On the other side of Paukaneva, a barrier-free 600-meter-long local exercise route starts from the rest area of the Seinäjoki-Vaasa northern bypass.
The Nurmo river gives liveliness to the center and offers opportunities for recreation. Among other things, Nurmoo-Seura rents a boat with which you can explore the region's beautiful river scenery. Kayaking is also organized on the river.
The schools operating in the area are important for the church village. At the same time, they also ensure that local traffic goes all the way to Hyllykallio and the center of Seinäjoki. It is also important to have a pharmacy in the church village.
