Veneskoski-Viitalankylä

Veneskoski-Viitalankylä is located about 12 kilometers from the center of Seinäjoki, facing Kuortanee. Neighboring villages are Keski-Nurmo and Koura. Veneskoski-Viitalankylä is a peaceful village community with the Nurmonjoki flowing through it. The landscape is rustic with fields and forests. There are a brisk 150 households and more than 600 residents in the area.


Services

The village association has renovated the old Viitala school into a village hall, Venestalo. It functions as a common space for the villagers and can be rented for parties, for example. Civic college courses and bingo are also organized there.


Shared spaces and hobby opportunities

The boat house is the center of the village, which is used for many purposes. There, the village club and civic college organize various events. The Civil Service Institute organizes e.g. woodworking, music and English courses. In the school yard, baseball is played in the summer and rink ball in the winter. In addition, the Toivola hall is used as a hobby space, with a gym open to everyone. The Veneskoski quarry is frequently visited in the summer for swimming. In winter, the quarry has an open swimming area with saunas. Tracks are drawn over a wide area in winter. In addition to the quarry, you can ski to e.g. To Lankar and Mykänristinlaavu. There are two playgrounds in the area, one in Venestalo and the other along Isokoskentie. In addition, there is a four-basket frisbee golf course for common use.

The village club organizes an annual Easter bonfire and a big Christmas event, as well as a cycling campaign and an angling competition in autumn. A large number of people in the village participate in the events. The village club constantly strives to renew its events and activities.
