Ylivalli village is located at the southern end of Jalasjärvi municipality. The village is the largest of the nine villages in the municipality of Jalasjärvi in terms of area. The settlement is spread over an area of 150 square kilometers. The distance to the center is 15–30 kilometers. Peräseinäjoki, Kihniö, Parkano, Seinäjoki and Kurikka are located in the nearby area. The village has a little less than 300 permanent residents. The village of Ylivalli has lakes and swimming spots, e.g. Lake Madesjärvi, Lake Kolhonjärvi and the Liikapuro reservoir, as well as an area suitable for leisure living and camping, hunting and fishing. Our village is home to rare areas shaped by nature Pirunepäsa and Navettavuori.
The school is located in the neighboring village of Koskue, about 10.5 km away. Instead, the journey to the store is already 15–30 km. (Center of Jalasjärvi) Juustoporti's coffee shop is located in Keskikylä, where you can find some groceries. The village has farmers, dairy farms, a turkey farm, a goat farm, private entrepreneurs, as well as peat production and machinery contracting. Also accommodation services is available.
The village's only common meeting place is the Ns/Mks talo Seurala (Kihniöntie 181). Hobby activities, various events and the activities of associations are located there. Seurala is also rented for private use, such as for weddings and birthdays, and as a meeting place. Likewise, there are also very good opportunities for volunteering, exercise, theater and other hobbies. Indoor sports/play facilities and a gym can be found in the neighboring village.
The village's annual events are the side events of the tourist destination Pirunpesä, such as singing evenings, Pesä cafe services, hiking and orienteering. More information at www.ylivalli.epk.fi or on Facebook @HiidenkirnuPirunpesa
In the village, the Ylivalli Agricultural and Household Society, Ylivalli Youth Society, Fällyteatteri and Itäinen Metsästyshydistys operate.
In our village, the village's own Whatsapp group has been set up, where information is given about events and everything else important in the modern style. The village also has a Facebook page @Yli-Valli. In addition, since 1996, the youth club has published Yylivalli's Christmas magazine, which collects events throughout the year in one cover and recalls old village stories.
Our village's development needs have mainly been related to the tourist destination Pirunpesä; maintaining the area and increasing comfort. The latest in summer 2022 was the purchase of new solar panels. The renovation of Seurantalo Seurala and the maintenance of the outdoor area are the next challenge.
