Could the doctor's remote appointment be arranged in a familiar and safe village hall? What about using virtual glasses to participate in an art exhibition or sports event organized on the other side of the world from the village hall?
In the Vauhtia valokikuuun project, one of the measures is to promote the utilization of fiber optic connections that already exist or are being built in village halls and centers in order to help the creation of new services in them. For this purpose, a ready-made service model was produced and piloted for digital viewing in four village halls.
The digital review mapped the digital activities of the village halls, which includes energy monitoring, security, supervision, remote work, remote meetings, event streaming, entertainment and gaming services, and well-being and health services. The digital inspections of the village houses were carried out by the digital expert of the Vauhtia valokikuutun project Mika Ahonen and information network specialist Mikko Ojainväli.
- The goal is to make a replicable Digikatselmus model. The vision is that in the future the village halls could function in various digital themes related to village communities, as a service center for village residents of all ages, says Mikko Ojainväli.
Previous studies, surveys and project results were also utilized in the survey work.
Mäenpää village hall from Kauhava, Ylistaro Asemanseutu village hall, Luovan Nuorisoseurantalo in Kurika and Hyypä maja in Kauhajoki were selected as pilot sites for digital viewings. Before the digital viewing, background information about the use and services of the village hall was collected from the village halls using a preliminary information form. In the actual digital inspection, we got to know the village hall and had a stimulating discussion with the core group of the village hall about the possibilities of digitalization in the house. The goal of the stimulus discussions was to find suitable development sites for piloting.
After the completed digital review, the issues raised were reported and action proposals were made. The finished digital review reports were sent to the village associations.
- The inspections were rewarding, both for the operators of the village halls and for us as project operators. They gave birth to new ideas for the development of the digital activities of the village halls, Ojainväli says.
The piloting of digital viewings will continue in the Aisapari and Kuustäta operating areas. The development of the digikatselmus model continues.
