Getting to know your home region by cycling

29.6.2016

The villages of Ylistaro are getting excited by organizing a cycling event on Sunday, July 10. During the day, you can independently tour various places to visit, which are located all around the municipality, from nature trail lean-tos to swimming spots and from summer cafes to home museums. Village cycling combines exercise, outdoor activities and spending time together in a pleasant way. An added bonus is that residents – both new and old – become more aware of their home region.

Participants in the Ylistaro village cycling tour can navigate their route, for example, along the Kyrönjoki River or cycle to explore the natural attractions of more distant villages. A picture of the Kriikku mill and the cultural landscape of the Kyrönjoki River.

You can take a snack with you on your bike ride, as there are campfire sites at many lean-tos, both in the forest landscapes and along the Kyrönjoki River. The Kriikku mill has reopened its doors this summer, and you can take an ice cream break at Wanhan Markin Puimuri Pehmis. The Kitinoja village association will also hold a summer café from 8 July to 7 August in the old riiheh, at the crossroads of the road leading to the heritage village. The heritage village is one of the side attractions of the housing fair.

The museums that are open are the Ylistaro Home Museum, the Ritari Home Museum and the recently opened Rinta-Kaukola Home Museum. You can go swimming, for example, at the Rajamäki quarry or at the Pietarus swimming area along Könnintie. There is also a sauna there in the afternoon.

Ylistaro week is off to a great start with village cycling. You can print the route map from here or you can pick it up from Ylistaro House and Kriiku Mill.

Village bike rides are also being organized in Ilmajoki on Wednesdays until the beginning of August. Events related to the Ilmajoki 500th anniversary will be organized in different villages in turn. You can find out the dates of all village bike rides here. from here.

The UHOO summer photo competition for South Ostrobothnia Leader groups continues throughout the summer. The photo target from Ylistaro is the Kainasto Youth Club. Other photo targets are listed In UHOO newsBy taking a photo at the destination and sharing it on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag 1TP5Destruction, you will enter a draw for a local food basket worth 100 euros.

The Kitinoja Heritage Village has twelve plots that have been designated for the continuation of the local traditional construction method, i.e. traditional Ostrobothnian houses with courtyards. Currently, two plots have been built on, the third has been sold and the fourth has been provisionally reserved. The Kitinoja Village Association has received support for establishing the area and, among other things, for preparing building guidelines from Leader Liiver. You can find the building guidelines here from here.
