Luopajärvi is a village located in the northern part of Jalasjärvi, whose farmland is crossed by the busy highway 19 leading north. Luopajärvi, which was drained at the beginning of the century, is lined with clusters of houses built on humps with well-kept surroundings, so the passer-by's eye can rest in a very beautiful cultural landscape. There are good road connections from Luopajärvi. It is about 12 kilometers to the center of Jalasjärvi, it takes less than half an hour to drive to Seinäjoki and the train station is only 26 kilometers away. The distances to Kurikka and Ilmajoki are about 25 kilometers.
In the middle of the village there is a well-stocked food, agricultural and building supplies store, with a post office. Luopajärvi has its own preschool and elementary school. A kindergarten completed in 2014 is located in the same courtyard. The library van goes to Luopajärvi once a week, municipal housekeeping and home nursing services can be obtained from the city if necessary.
The village is known for its strong agricultural entrepreneurship. There are also many other companies in Luopajärvi: e.g. sawmill, taxi services, powder coating factory, service home for special groups, beauty salon and car repair shops.
Pohjola, a youth club located in the middle of the village, offers comfortable spaces for hobby activities, parties and various events. In the winter, the lighted piste running around the center of the village serves as a popular ski slope, with opportunities for traditional and skate skiing on routes of different lengths. The school yard has playgrounds, a soccer field, a skating rink and opportunities to play frisbee golf. The second playground is located in the Perkiöntie residential area. Hobby activities vary every year. The school organizes a 4H club and various competitions.
The activities of the youth club have been reactivated in the summer of 2023. The association organizes e.g. dinners and various events throughout the year for villagers of all ages and rents party equipment. The village's magazine "Aviisi - Näin näus kän" is published twice a year.
You can inquire about land availability from the city of Kurika and from private landowners.
The village's strengths are functioning services such as a shop, a village school and a daycare center, as well as a good geographical location near the services of the city of Kurika in Jalasjärvi and Kurika. The village has good transport connections to Seinäjoki, which expands access to services, but also enables families with children working elsewhere to live in Luopajärvi. A cooperative, vibrant village community and a beautiful cultural landscape provide a good framework for comfortable living.
The village's landmarks are the Luopajärvi sawmill, which was founded in 1916, located next to the center, and the windmill visible on the other side of the highway at the same place, as well as a large field, which is part of the cultural landscape of Luopajärvi. Luopajärvi is a popular residential area for families with children thanks to the kindergarten and school.
Good road connections to the north and south and a short distance to Seinäjoki.
Luopajärvi's village activities, brand and community spirit of the villagers are actively developed with the help of the Luopajärvi youth association. New ideas are welcome! Luopajärvi can be found on Facebook and Instagram. More information about the activities of the youth club can be found on the website www.luopajarvi.epk.fi/
